Traveling in NY

New York, N.Y., the city that never sleeps, The Big Apple . No matter what you call it, New York City is a most amazing place.
There are lots of things to see and do in New York, so while you're traveling in NY, you should start at the beginning where folks seeing the most beautiful city in the world for the first time have started for over a hundred years, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

For hundreds of thousands of immigrants to the shores of the United States of America, the Statue of Liberty was the first sight they saw of their new home. The Statue of Liberty was given to the American people on October 28, 1876 by the people of France and is seen as a symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are part of the National Park Service. Both monuments are open to the public daily and admission is free.
After you've spent a few hours exploring the lands surrounding Lady Liberty, take a stroll along Battery Park. Make sure you take your camera because there is lots of see including the sphere that previously stood in front of the World Trade Center, the Korean War Memorial and of course the water front. If you like foot long hot dogs and hot pretzels Battery Park is a great place for lunch too.
Just two blocks north of Battery Park, within walking distance of Battery Park are Trinity Church, St. Paul's Church and Ground Zero. Trinity Church is the church that was featured in the movie, "National Treasure". Located at the corner of Broadway and Wall Street, Trinity Church also has one of the world’s largest pipe organs that still work. Free Admission. From Trinity Church, turn down Wall Street and you'll run into St. Paul's Church where many of the Firemen and EMS personnel took refuge during the bombings of the World Trade Center. Directly across from St. Paul's Church is the area where the rebuilding of the World Trade Center complex is being built.
Catch a cab and go uptown to 350 5th Ave., the home of the tallest building on the East Coast. The Empire State Building stands majestically against the New York skyline. The building is open daily from 8 a.m. till 2 a.m. There is a charge to ride to the top, but it's well worth the cost and the wait. The view is spectacular, but don't take my word for it, ride up the elevator and see it for yourself.
Broadway is a street and a district in Manhattan. Broadway is the longest street in New York traversing the entire island. Right in the center of it all is the Broadway theatre district. Times Square, Madison Square Garden and Herald Square all run along Broadway. Broadway Musicals from "CATS" to "Les Miserables" can be found on Broadway. If you find yourself traveling in NY during the holidays, be sure to stop by Times Square and ring in the New Year.
Be sure to leave some time to take in all that New York City has to offer from the thousands of wonderful restaurants to all the New York Department Stores. Pack your bags, make your reservations and get ready for the trip of a lifetime New York City never sleeps and neither will you while you're traveling in NY.
